What Is a Selective Catalytic Reduction System?

An SCR system reduces the amount of NOx in your truck's emissions by mixing the exhaust stream with diesel exhaust fluid, or DEF. DEF is a mixture of urea, a nitrogen-based compound, and water. It converts NOx into nitrogen gas and water vapor, which can be safely released into the atmosphere.
